Vintage, earthy & unusual tribal clay beads, hand made in South America.
They are coloured using oxide in the clay, so the colour goes through the complete bead. Made around 1970s~1980s with a traditional etched design.
These beads came to Australia more than 40 years ago and we have managed to buy the stock from our special supplier (in fact we bought all of the remaining stock of these!).
You will see this shape and style of bead of many of the designs from South America. Teamed up with little flattened pieces of silver added to the bottom, they are often used as multiple drops from a pendant earring piece, or simply thread them into your designs on necklaces. They would work on a bracelet, but think about how they won't turn a tight arc as they are long and straight. Maybe use one or two within your design.
These beads will add appeal to your jewellery making. You could pop them on an earring, use them with dangling styles, between pearls and/or seed beads. Or of course, browse our other beads in the Vintage South American range and use them together with a larger focal bead.
What will you do with your gorgeous vintage tubes?
Measurements: About 20mm long by about 4mm across with a threading hole about 0.5~0.8mm thick.
Colour: Greens, but you will see from the photos the many different colour tones in the clay. We have called these ones 'malachite' green because they are dark like the malachite stone. Please note, they are made from clay, not stone.
