40~45mm Oval (1) - Matte Black (Lewis & Clarke) Glass Vintage Replica Trade Beads

$8.00 AUD

Description

Measurements:  40~45mm long x 20~22mm wide with a 1~1.5mm threading hole

Quantity per pack:  1 bead - chosen at random (beads may vary from the photos as each bead is individual - photo is a guide only).

Colours:   These drawn and wound lampwork beads are an awesome matte opaque black with a rope wound around of white and red.  There is a white feathered design also wound around between the ropes.  These beads are magnificent and a real collectors item.  Every single bead is different.

Origin:  Hand Made in India - We believe this bead to be a reproduction of a Venetian Trade Bead made for a famous company called Lewis & Clarke around 1800s who were exploring America and using beads to trade for food and goods with Native American Indians.

Of course you can use these beads in a project, whether it be for jewellery or decor, or just keep them as treasures in your stash!  You might even like to put them out in a bowl for a talking point in your home.  There is a lot of history of the Lewis & Clarke beads.

Bead Shack made a huge bead haul around 2007, and these beads were quite old before that.  The man we purchased them from used to collect large hauls of beads that became available, so who knows how long ago they were made!  Our best guess would be around 1970s-1980s for this bead.

Disclaimer:  We have tried to describe the beads as accurately as possible, from our own knowledge as well as any knowledge we can glean from the internet.  Many of our vintage beads were made well before the internet became an everyday tool!  We can only find information about beads that other people have listed!  If you know any further information about any of our listed beads, please contact us and let us know - we would be so grateful!
