150 grams Glass 6/0 Seed Beads

NAIDOC WEEK - be prepared for the groups that need supplies for projects!

Bead Pack includes:

  • 50 grams x Blue beads + 50 grams x Green beads + 50 grams x White Beads = 150 grams Beads

Bead & Elastic Pack includes:

  • 50 grams x Blue beads + 50 grams x Green beads + 50 grams x White Beads = 150 grams Beads + 5 metres of .7mm beading elastic.

These great quality GLASS seed beads measure approximately 4mm across and are great for all purpose use in projects for beading, craft, etc.  This pack will bead around 4.5 - 6 metres!

Buy the beads alone, or buy the pack that includes the elastic if you are catering for a group.  We suggest for a group that you pre-cut the elastic into 25cm lengths (this leaves room for you to grab hold of the ends to tie knots, then trim).  Our 5m Elonga elastic pack will make 20 pieces x 25m in length.

Click here to download hints on how to use our Elonga Elastic.  This elastic cord is easy to use, especially in a group situations because it makes a safe & secure knot easily.  We suggest to put a paper clip on one end of each piece of elastic, or tie a little seed bead to one end.  This will stop the other beads from rolling off whilst threading,

These beads can be threaded on beading elastic, tigertail wire, crafting wire, fishing line, embroidery thread, etc

They are also easy for teachers & group coordinators to create projects with, especially relating to NAIDOC week and any other Aboriginal celebration or special occasion.  Besides that, they are just a great tribal look mix of colours to have in your stash!

Our bead packs are a great resource for teachers, caregivers, home school learners, pre-schools, free schooling, community groups, disability groups and so on.  We have made the packs as economical as possible, and we take into account the size of the hole, the thickness of the threads, and the time constraints on teachers & organisers.  Our bracelet kits are easy to thread and tie up, and are safe for children and adults alike to wear.  Once NAIDOC week finishes, the piece they have made can be used as a regular jewellery item for everyday wear.  Some of our packs are just for the beads in the appropriate colour scheme you choose, for you to make any project you have in mind.  Others include everything you need to make a completed project, eg Bracelet or Lanyard.

Once a year, Australia holds celebrations across the nation in the first week of July, to celebrate & recognise the history, culture & achievements of both Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander First Nation peoples.

NAIDOC week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures & histories, & participate in celebrations of the oldest continuous living cultures on earth.

NAIDOC is different to Reconciliation Week, which is to heal past damages.

NAIDOC meaning:  An acronym for National Aborigines and Islands Day Observance Committee.

Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the First Peoples of Australia. Aboriginal peoples inhabited the whole of Australia, and Torres Strait Islander peoples lived in the islands between Australia and Papua New Guinea.  Both have different flags.

The Aboriginal Flag is divided horizontally into equal halves of black (top) and red (bottom), with a yellow circle in the centre. The black symbolises Aboriginal people. The yellow represents the sun, the constant re-newer of life. Red depicts the earth and peoples' relationship to the land.

Our Aboriginal NAIDOC bead packs include the 3 colours of black, red & yellow (or gold according to stock available at the time).

The Torres Strait Islander Flag has green panels at the top and bottom of the flag to represent the land and the central blue panel represents the sea. The black lines dividing the panels represent the Torres Strait Islander people. The centre of the flag shows a white dhari (dancer's headdress) which represents Torres Strait Islander culture.

Our Torres Strait NAIDOC bead packs include 3 colours, which are green, blue & white.  We have not included black in our packs however if you would like to include them, please email us.

Phrase Meaning:

This year's theme – Get up! Stand up! Show up! – encourages all of us to champion institutional, structural, collaborative, and cooperative change while celebrating those who have already driven and led change in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities over generations.

Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! to amplify our voices and narrow the gap between aspiration and reality, good intent and outcome. Get Up!

It’s a call to action.
