Vintage ruby red Czech glass pendants, often called ‘Hajj’ or Mecca beads, feature metallic gold Arabic script on both sides and were produced from the early 1900s to 1950s. These transparent pendants were historically worn by Pilgrims featuring two different writings on either side. Hajj is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest city for Muslims. You can see the pendants in our other listing.
These beads match in with the pendant, and are often used as the basis of a necklace, with one or two pendants across the bottom of the draped section.
