Bead Shack made a huge bead haul around 2007, and these beads were quite old before that. The man we purchased them from used to collect large hauls of beads that became available, so who knows how long ago they were made! Our best guess would be around 1980s.
These beads are usually called a crow bead. They are a plain transparent glass around a white opaque core.
Every bead has it's place in the world, and this plain chunky bead could just be the trick in a robust necklace you are making as a divider between more ornate beads. They would also fit in perfectly with some home decor projects such as door hangers, mobiles & sun decorations. If you need a bit of weight on a handbag trim decoration, key ring etc these would also be perfect in this situation.
