The Tumi is a national symbol of Peru, often featured in tourism and cultural promotion.  It's modern use is considered good luck if you have one hanging on your wall in your home.

Tumi is the word for knife, usually a ceremonial knife and is a sumbol of the ancient Peru cultures, particularly the Inca, Chimu and Sican cultures..  They have a semicircular blade. and were used in many ways, including ceremonial and surgical amongst other uses.  They were also used for funerary objects as symbols of power and status.

They are steeped in history, and well worth researching if you want to know more!
